Hi! I'm posting design challenges on my Twitter #DailyUI
Project duration:
January 2022- February 2023
My role:
UX designer
Responsibilities:
Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, and iterating on designs.
The challenge:
Takara is a sushi restaurant owned by an experienced Japanese chef and managed locally in Madison WI. Their dishes should be more recognized and enjoyed by variety of people. Their current website is not user-friendly and visually attractive. Also right now it only targets Japanese cuisine connoisseurs.
The goal:
Create a user-friendly website to appeal variety of potential customers to promote authentic Japanese restaurant.
I conducted a survey research and narrowed down Sushi eaters of age 18 and over. As my assumption, majority of people wanted to save time and energy from cooking. Specially when it comes to Sushi, it takes time to make and it is a fancy meal. So some people want to order it when feeling like a splurge or for a party. Research revealed that many wish that they could have more time to make an order, getting more knowledge about Sushi. It’s not a fast food, so it makes sense.
Paper wireframes and
low-fidelity prototype
Usability study findings:
Based on the findings from the usability study I changed the below.
High-fidelity Prototype
Impact:
Users shared that filter search was very nice, the design was intuitive and simple to navigate through, more engaging with the images.
What I learned:
Usability studies and peer feedback influenced each iteration of the website designs. Having a diversity group of participants for usability studies helped me see different perspectives.
